Screenshots of Brightcove's New Flex Applications
Brightcove has announced a major upgrade to it's features, and now I can show a few screenshots of the Flex applications. Or rather I can link to some leaked screenshots on TechCrunch. It's a bit confusing if you just look at the page for the screenshots, as it includes both the old Brightcove and the new Brightcove. But once you know that, it's easy to tell which ones are new. The home page is HTML, but the rest of the new screenshots show Flex 3 applications. This was a large undertaking by a lot of people here at Brightcove. I'd (translate)
Even if You Don't Write Music, Check Out Noteflight
I'm not a composer myself, but I've had a lot of fun playing with Joe Berkovitz's new application Noteflight. It's a pretty amazing Flex app, even if you can't write anything more complicated than Mary Has a Little Lamb. You can read more about it on Joe's blog or flex888. (translate)
Flash Extension: Combine Textfields
This extension combines multiple textfields into one editable textfield. I put this together as an entry for the Hackathon at Flash Camp. Creative Suite 4 will be introducing a new Flash format, XFL. This format can be created by other applications, including InDesign and After Effects, and then edited by Flash Professional. So print designers and [...] (translate)

What is wrong with the Matrix3D.transformVector?
I admit that I am not an expert on 3D matrix computation, but is it really me or just a bug? In my understanding an inverted matrix can neutralize an already applied transformation to a Vector3D. So having a Vector3D transformed by a matrix and afterward to the inverted one returns the original Vector coordinates, right? Check [...] (translate)
Great Review of Red5 vs. FMS (Guess Who Wins)
Rob Silverman, an experienced FMS developer posted a review of Red5 after he had heard about my presentation at Flash on the Beach. So without further ado here’s his post. I’m glad that he found Red5 easy to work with, and that the Java tools are really great. Anyway, Rob, thanks for the great review! [...] (translate)

No to Barack Obama and supposed change
I've yet to hear a good case for electing Barack Obama to be President of the United States. He came out of nowhere, has not done anything of significance, and has not shown good judgment in his past. He speaks well, but empty words do not mean much if they are not backed by action or past actions. If you ask any Obama supporter why they are voting for him, they cannot give you logical reasons. It's all based on emotion -- his speeches, which have no relation to his actions. I've been following this for many many months and (translate)
Thank you, South Africa!
To say that our seminars in South Africa were a success would be a gross understatement. Just as I experienced during my first trip to South Africa more than 10 years ago, this is an amazing country with a truly beautiful, friendly people. Our trip began in the amazingly stunning setting of Cape Town, where we [...] (translate)
